While on medications to aid on Weight Loss it is important to consume a diet rich in fiber, emphasizing fruits and vegetables with high fiber content. 8. Improved Lipid Profile: Some research indicates positive effects on lipid metabolism, contributing to improved cholesterol levels.

Tirzepatide, is often associated with potentially greater efficacy in inducing weight loss. Tirzepatide has shown in clinical trials to have a more potent effect on weight reduction compared to semaglutide.

It's crucial to recognize that individual responses to medications can vary, and the use of semaglutide or tirzepatide should be under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.

How does the plan work?

Semaglutide Protocol consists of:

Every 30 days, it's essential to initiate a refill request and self-report the following: current weight, blood pressure, treatment-related concerns, alterations in other prescribed medications, changes in medical history, and adjustments in desired weight loss goals.

For the most efficient refill request, utilize our online prescription refill application.

Some forms of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide may take 7-10 business days to reach you.

Timely self-reporting is crucial to prevent any delays in administration.

In-office visits and assistance are available, so are telemedicine appointments.

Please promptly inform our office of any concerns or queries at (239) 738-2626.

In case of an emergency, dial 911 without delay.

What are the potential side effects?

Potential side effects of this medication include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, dyspepsia, dizziness, abdominal distension, belching, hypoglycemia, flatulence, gastroenteritis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

For subcutaneous injections, possible side effects may involve itching, burning at the administration site, and skin thickening.

If you observe any unlisted side effects or experience a serious allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention, especially if you notice symptoms such as rash, swelling (particularly of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.

It's important to be aware of potential serious issues, including the rare possibility of thyroid tumors, including cancer. Inform your healthcare provider if you notice a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath, as these could be symptoms of thyroid cancer. While Semaglutide has caused thyroid tumors in rodent studies, it's uncertain if it will lead to similar outcomes in people, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).

Any adverse side effects should be promptly reported to your clinician. In emergency situations, dial 911 immediately.

What are the contraindications?

Avoid taking this medication under the following conditions:

  1. If you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (thyroid cancer).
  2. If you have a personal history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2).
  3. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant while on this medication.
  4. If you are allergic to Semaglutide or any other GLP-1 agonist, including but not limited to Adlyxin®, Byetta®, Bydureon®, Ozempic®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity®, Victoza®, Wegovy®, and Mounjaro®. Note that this list is not exhaustive.

What are potential drug interactions I should tell my doctor about?

Be cautious of potential interactions with other medications:

  1. Anti-diabetic agents, especially insulin and sulfonylureas (e.g., glyburide, glipizide, glimepiride), as they may increase the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Avoid concurrent use with other GLP-1 agonist medications like Adlyxin®, Byetta®, Bydureon®, Ozempic®, Rybelsus®, Trulicity®, Victoza®, Wegovy®, and Maunjaro® (Note: This list is not exhaustive).
  2. Blood pressure medications: Given potential weight loss on this medication, it's crucial to self-monitor blood pressure while concurrently using blood pressure medications. As weight loss may naturally reduce blood pressure, adjustments to your blood pressure medication dosage may be necessary. Keeping a blood pressure diary during weight loss is recommended.
